Small Business Saturday is the perfect excuse to shop local and support small businesses! My family kicked off the holiday season with a visit to the family owned and operated Santa's Ranch, located just north of New Braunfels, Texas. This sprawling drive through holiday light display has a little something for everyone!

After entering we made a stop at the drive through snack shop, where we purchased hot cocoa to enjoy on our ride. The friendly lady at the window told us that her family owned and operated Santa's Ranch, and that several of the displays we were going to see were very special to her, as they were some of the original pieces the family created when they started their business. They have added on each year, making it bigger and better. There were a LOT of lights, and it took around 30 minutes to drive through the entire light display.

The lights are organized into themed sections, so it's almost like going through different theaters with plays that tell different stories. Some of the themed areas you will see at Santa's Ranch are:

• Texas icons, like mariachi and the Tower of the Americas

• Military tributes to the different service branches

• Dinosaurs!

• Early American history, like the giant Mayflower ship

• Biblical tales, such as the birth of Christ and the parting of the Red Sea

• Snowscapes, with lots of cute critters and lights that look like snow

• The North Pole, with Santa

• A beautiful, massive castle that looks like it's from a winter wonderland

• Classic characters like the Grinch
